The Beermaster’s Classic annual fishing tournament was an idea conceived by Mike Joyce as a way to keep in touch with college friends who have moved on from their old stomping grounds at George Mason University.
The website will serve as a outlet to provide intelligence on the waters we fish throughout the year, review equipment, share tips and techniques, and preserve stories and pictures from tournament participants.
The tournament is by invitation only and designed to give it’s members the opportunity to network and reconnect. Charter members include Rocky of Roanoke; Eddy of Washington, DC; Jason of Reston, VA; and Mike of Austin, TX; all of whom met during their time serving Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Kappa Theta chapter.
The inaugural Beermaster’s Classic began at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, Georgia in the Fall of 2009 and the group have since visited:
- Kerr Lake/Buggs Island in Clarksville, VA
- Potomac River near Sandy Hook, MD
- Lake Gaston near Pea Hill, NC
- South Holston Lake near Bristol, TN
- Tygart Lake in Grafton, WV
- Lake Keowee near Clemson, SC
Lake Wallenpaupack in Pike County, PA
- Barren River Lake in Frankfort, KY
- Lake Travis near Austin, TX
The mission of the Beermaster’s Classic tournament is to foster brotherhood through fishing with the goal of fishing every state in the Union. The mission of the website is to provide unique intelligence on waters not heavily covered in fishing reports, as well as archive the photos and stories of past tournaments.
